Ac´cent on Draven St. James

Draven St. James, it’s lovely to meet you. Will you start us off with a thumbnail of you—your life in a paragraph or two? Scary, but necessary …

I’m a born and raised Oregonian. I’ve traveled extensively in search of mischief and mayhem to fill my books.  My ventures have been quite successful in inspiring a wealth of stories both sexy and humorous.  It gives me a great excuse to do some crazy stuff in the name of research. Of course at the end of the day, coffee within reach, laptop at the ready is where I find my peace.

Give us a chronological outline of your work/novel titles, with a sentence or two that describes each. And hey, buy links here are fine.

Well, my first title through Loose Id was Grey’s Hidden Fire: When Grey meets Mica. All Grey can think about is how fast they can get naked and sweaty. But Grey’s not gay. Mica is and has no qualms with educating him on the pleasure that can be had between two men.

My next book, Scent of a Wolf, will be out November 12. Jace and Merek share hot steamy dreams that end at dawn. When the dreams become a reality, both are faced with a truth—they’re mates. Now Merek must convince Jace that reality is better than fantasy.

Of course, the heat from Grey and Mica couldn’t be contained in one book; so Fire and Mistletoe will be released December 24, and you’ll all just have to wait for the snow-melting blurb.

You can purchase Grey’s Hidden Fire by going to:

Loose Id:

Choose a fictional character and write a 100-word love scene between the two of you. I choose “you” to be a man named “Rom,” raised by wolves, with a sense of neither social grace nor restraint.

Rom growled softly and rubbed up against Ben. The simple sensual gesture left Ben feeling marked and more than a little aroused.

“You can touch me,” Ben whispered.

Rom pushed back to stare down at Ben, his brow furrowed.

Ben reached out and pressed one of Rom’s work rough hands to his chest.  Rom slid his fingers over Ben’s chest, his stomach, and stopped to trace around Ben’s belly button. Ben arched up into the caress, wanting Rom to go lower but craving the gentle contact from the primitive man.

“Don’t stop,” Ben pleaded, desperate for more.

Rom traveled lower…

Name and describe a character you’ve written based on:

Yourself: Cole … he has a dark sense of humor and prefers to be behind the scenes.

A lover: Garren … he’s is a private, sensual man who exudes power and confidence. He generally likes to be in control, but has his moments of submission.

A friend: Aspen … light hearted and friendly. Sometimes a little bit to naive to the way the world works.

A teacher or mentor: Sloan … a very wise man whom others depend upon. His advice is based on a life full of good and bad choices.

Have you ever played out a fantasy in your writing? Tell all! Give a brief example!

Well of course!  It was just a question of opportunity. One doesn’t want to find themselves in the hospital for any reason, but some fantasies have interesting scene requirements. Let me tell you what, there are a few hospitals that do have showers that are big enough for a little sexy time so long as you’re quiet. That is not something you want a nurse to bust in on! They may charge extra for using their facilities for activities that are not approved by the doctor. 😉 Characters can often  reveal the darker, more adventurous side of our natures.

You have the singular honor of writing your own eulogy. In about a hundred words, present it here, in whatever tone you find suitable for a specified audience. [a clown convention? Mothers for Moral America? You name it.]

My name is Benjamin and I’m addicted to the sweet seductive allure of coffee. Our good friend and fellow member Draven sadly passed away yesterday from liver failure due to an excess amount of coffee consumption. We’re here to honor Draven today by beating this coffee maker with these bats made from wood that was fertilized with used coffee grounds.  We must also give thanks to the many books Draven penned for our enjoyment. May Draven’s sexy shifters and firemen continue to titillate the imagination of the open minded, even as it shocks those who read the words in private…at night…while drinking their coffee. You know who you are.

We want to know your favorite AND least favorite word for these good old Latin terms:

Penis: Favorite is cock, least favorite is actually penis.

Vagina: Vagina’s aren’t really my thing… lol.

Anus: A favorite? Sensitive hole….or any other descriptive word. I’m not a big fan of using the word anus because it sounds slightly scientific.

Scrotum: Favorite I guess would simply be balls, but least favorite would be “nads.” It just sounds like something you’d catch from having sex.

And now … the moment we’ve all waited for …  I know you have a new novel coming out shortly. Tell us, first, when it’s due, from what pub, and give us a blurb to get us interested. And then please present around a 500-word excerpt from your new work.

Scent of a Wolf will be released November 12 from Loose Id.  A blurb to pique your interest:

Jace Shaw is one of the few survivors of a rare wolf pack. He spends his days on the run and his nights in another world with a man he’s only ever dreamed about. To sleep is to feel his dream man’s hands on his body and hear wicked whispered words. But when the sun rises, reality crashes in. The evil that destroyed his birth pack hunts his kind down in search of a way to control their power … to take the light.

Merek Wahya is an alpha dealing with the issues of being newly appointed, but all those fall away when he closes his eyes at night. A man with moonlit hair and mercury eyes crawls into bed with him. When he wakes it’s to a painful arousal no one can satisfy. He soon learns their nocturnal meetings were foreplay for a passionate face-to-face encounter.

When Merek’s wolf catches Jace’s scent, he knows he’s found his mate. The joy of this discovery is shadowed by the trouble that follows Jace.  His mate is embroiled in a battle between two ancient packs—a war Merek must now fight too; and if he fails, he could lose his mate forever.

Merek pinned Jace’s wrists to the ground. The man loomed close, his muscular frame pressing against Jace’s so he touched all the right spots. Jace squirmed in a halfhearted effort to get free even as his body screamed at him to yield to the pleasure that Merek could provide.

Merek leaned down to whisper, “You’re always so damned difficult.”

The moon shone down, filtering through the webwork of trees that canopied their nocturnal wicked activities. In the pale silver light, he could see Merek’s face. It was composed of sharp angles, a prominent nose, chiseled jaw, and a sensual mouth. That mouth never failed to make Jace’s cock twitch. Merek’s face was almost always partially shaded by the long locks of black hair that flowed down to touch his broad shoulders. Hair so dark it refracted light in shades of blue—an eerie color reflected in his eyes. They were the palest blue Jace had ever seen. The eyes of a wolf, and he growled like one too.

Letting the primitive nature of their wolves loose in the magnificent embrace of the wilderness was instinctive. The smell of damp grass and pine trees wafted around them. But beneath that scent was Merek’s—rich, primal, and addictive.

Jace strove to stop his grin as he bucked his hips in an attempt to get Merek off him. The man was too strong for his own good. The move only resulted in Merek chuckling and adjusting to hold both of Jace’s wrists in one hand. The other he used to lightly caress Jace’s cheek and jawline. Merek brushed his thumb over Jace’s bottom lip, causing a shudder to flow through Jace. He knew just what those hands were capable of.

No matter how hard he fought himself, he couldn’t help but tilt his neck into the soft touch. Merek gave him a sensual smile.

Jace tried to twist away again, to get the upper hand, but to no avail. Merek trailed his hand lower, and Jace arched into the gentle touch. The man was doing his best to destroy Jace’s control, and it was so tempting to catapult to the carnal command.

“Just one word, Jace, and I’ll give you everything.”

Merek leisurely traced his fingertips down Jace’s naked chest, along the hard muscles of his stomach, and stopped at the waist of Jace’s low-riding jeans. Jace curved into the touch. Desperate for Merek to go lower.

“Submit to me.”
